9. Sentry E-3G
Commenced to Serve: 1972 1992–1997 (G upgraded in 2015)–retired Expense: *$270 million The E-3 Sentry is an airborne early warning and control aircraft, more often known as AWACS. Boeing also designed the 707, from which the Sentry was derived. NATO, the USAF, the RAF, the FAF, and the RSAF have all utilised the Boeing Sentry. The radar dome that revolves above the fuselage of the Sentry makes it easier to identify.
